Kawasaki Z650 - Entry Level Kawasaki

Hello guys, welcome to another blog. Today we are reviewing the Kawasaki Z650, which has been an all-new design in the BS6 2020 version. The Z650 mainly competes with Benelli TNT 600i which uses an inline-four cylinder engine but this hasn’t yet been updated to BS6 emission norms. The Z650 is currently Kawasaki's entry level bike in India because most of the bikes from Kawasaki has been discontinued in India due to emission norms.

The Kawasaki Z650 2020 BS6 has been launched in India which obviously compiles with the new emission norms. The price of the motorcycle is decided to be 5.94 lakhs ex-showroom which is 25,000 more expensive than the previous generation BS4 model. So what do you get for the extra money? Let's divide this review into two parts. Firstly we will talk about the looks and updates on the bike, and then we will discuss how is it to ride?

Looks of Kawasaki Z650 -

So starting from the front, The Z650 gets the all new sharp looking and rad LED headlights with four LED's on the top and a Led DRL on the lower side. The all new design really looks very aggressive and rad. The only problem is that it comes with only one colour shade option that is Black Green combination but it also looks very good. It comes with dual 300 MM petal discs at the front and single 220 MM disc at the back. From the side, the design of the motorcycle really looks very aggressive and nice. It has been inspired by the bigger Kawasaki bikes like Kawasaki H2. it comes with an underbelly exhaust and an aluminium swingarm. The Z shaped LED backlight also looks very elegant as such.

The only thing that does not look good in this motorcycle is the Halogen Indicators, come on Kawasaki we need LED indicators at this price point, what do you guys think of it? please let me know in the comment box. Now moving the seat of the motorcycle, the pillion seat is now wider than before and has also become stiff somehow. But the Rider seat is softer which is a really good thing. The quality of switches on the motorcycle is of good quality as well. Kawasaki Z650 comes with a 4.3-inch colour TFT display to replace the older semi-digital unit which also gets Bluetooth connection which is of not much use.

How is Kawasaki to ride?

The Kawasaki Z650 gets a 649 CC liquid cooled motor which produces 68 horsepowers which is same as the previous motor, but the torque output has gone down by 1.7 NM and now it makes 64 NM of torque. With the new section of tyres, the Z650 now offers more confidence around the corner. The bike is mated with a six speed gearbox. the gearing of the bike is very tall, it can touch 74 KMPH in just first gear and can pass 100 KMPH in just second gear. The low end grunt of the bike is soo powerful that you can even pick the bike at higher gears without any problem. The ABS of Z650 is a dual chained unit and is very sensitive. You can never feel the reduction due to BS6 norms this is the level of performance offered by the engine.
